WASHINGTON, DC - JULY 27: DC Metropolitan Police Department Officer Michael Fanone reacts as he watches video from his body camera as he answers questions before the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack on US Capitol on July 27, 2021 at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC.
Several former and current members of the US Capitol Police and DC Metropolitan Police who were involved in the response to January 6 celebrated the historic indictment directly after it was announced. On January 6, Fanone was beaten and stunned with a Taser by rioters, leading him to suffer a heart attack that very same day. He was one of several officers who testified about his experiences that day to the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol in 2022.
