The Capitol Police Inspector General says nearly 10% of the Capitol Police force have left their jobs
before the Senate Rules and Administration Committee that only 30 of the 104 recommendations his office has made to ensure the Capitol building is “safe and secure” have been adopted.
Additionally, only 61 security enhancements out of 200 that Capitol Police have provided to his office have “supporting documentation” that they have been implemented, according to Bolton’s testimony. Bolton commended the department for updating policies and procedures, obtaining additional training and building up hiring, but noted it “still has more work to achieve the goal of making the Capitol complex safe and secure.”in a press release it has made “immense progress” in identifying and addressing the security failures that lead to the breach, and added the department agrees with Bolton that it “must continue to improve and expand its intelligence and protective capabilities.”200.
