The Joneljim Cougars will look to secure their spot in the Nova Scotia Under-15 Major Hockey League provincial championship. One win this weekend will put the North Sydney-based team in the tournament. CONTRIBUTED.NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. – The Joneljim Cougars are one win away from advancing to the Nova Scotia Under-15 Major Hockey League provincial championship tournament.
The Cougars will look to close out the series on Saturday when the Wildcats come to town for Game 2. Puck drop is slated for 5:15 p.m. at the Emera Centre Northside in North Sydney.Brody Dawson leads the Cougars in playoff scoring with two goals and four points, while Brody Ford had two goals and three points, and Madden Gillis has two assists.
Kayden Mollons has the lone start in the playoffs to date and he has a 6.00 goals-against average with a .778 save percentage for the Cougars. Maddox Neumann was tagged with the loss to open the series and he has a 7.00 goals-against average with a .816 save percentage for the Wildcats. In other under-15 major playoff action, the New Scotland Storm of Cole Harbour won their series 2-0 over the WearWell Bombers of Pictou County, while The Gulls of St. Margarets Bay lead their series with the Western Hurricanes 1-0.
