CONTRIBUTEDSYDNEY, N.S. — The Cape Breton Capers men’s and women’s soccer teams kicked off the 2023-24 Atlantic University Sport season on winning notes — and on home turf.
Cameron Kilbride and Owen Sheppard each scored for the Capers . Near the end of the first half when, during a series of free kicks and on a defensive stand by the Aigles Bleus , the visitors unfortunately put a clearing header into their net that gave the Capers their additional goal. Grace Hannaford and Alliyah Rowe led the Capers with three goals each, with Makenna Bowser also scoring. Madeleine Belliveau was the lone scorer for the Aigles Bleues .
