STORY CONTINUES BELOW THESE SALTWIRE VIDEOSSYDNEY, N.S. — A Cape Breton man alleged to have sexually abused a young boy over a period of 11 years has been acquitted of six sex offences.
“In my respectful view, the accused evidence is also capable of belief. I find he did not present himself in his evidence as someone that was attempting to avoid the facts by running away from them. As stated for the most part that he was unshaken in his testimony,” said Murray. In a decision released last week, Murray noted that the complainant testified that he was abused by the accused from the time he was school-aged until his late teens.
He said that after the anal intercourse incident, he did not return to the home of his abuser. He said he was abused over 100 times. He said at trial there was only one attempt but in a police statement he said there were two occasions that it occurred along with an attempted third incident.
