Teams tied an NHL record by combining for 10 goals in a wild first period with Panthers taking a 7\u002D3 lead after 20 minutes.

It didn’t take long for the scoring to continue in the second period with Raphaël Harvey-Pinard deflecting in a point shot by Justin Barron for his ninth goal in 25 games this season at the 2:26 mark. It was the fourth goal on eight shots for the Canadiens on Bobrovsky, who is in the fourth season of a seven-year, US$70-million contract.

If the NHL had a mercy rule it would have been a good time to use it with more than 30 minutes of hockey left to play. The Canadiens’ Rem Pitlick scored the only goal of the third period at 5:47 on a power play. It was his fifth goal of the season.
