The Canadiens announced Saturday morning that they have called up Joel Armia from the AHL’s Laval Rocket and lent Filip Mesar to the OHL’s Kitchener Rangers.
Armia had four goals and one assist in five games with the Rocket after being sent down to the AHL by the Canadiens at the start of the season after the 30-year-old forward cleared NHL waivers. Mesar, selected by the Canadiens in the first round of the 2022 NHL Draft, played two games with the Rocket and had one assist. In 52 games last season with Kitchener, Mesar had 17-34-51 totals.
Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis said Armia won’t be in the lineup Saturday night at the Bell Centre against the Washington CapitalsJake Allen will start in goal for the Canadiens, while Justin Barron will replace injured defenceman Kaiden Guhle in the lineup. Guhle has been listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
