ZEV registrations coast-to-coast totaled 30,533 from January through March, accounting for 8.6 per cent of all Canadian vehicles registered, according to data from Statistics Canada published Aug. 2.
Canadian zero-emission vehicle registrations declined in the first quarter of 2023, as battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle sales fell from fresh heights scaled in the final three months of 2022.
Despite falling quarter-to-quarter, ZEV registrations for the first three months of 2023 were up considerably from the comparable quarter of 2022. First-quarter results last year showed ZEVs accounting for 7.7 per cent of the new vehicles added to Canadian roads over the three-month span.
