Get tickets to see PUP and Joyce Manor at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco and the Catalyst in Santa Cruz.
Canadian punk-rock act PUP released two albums in 2022 — the studio outing “The Unraveling of PUPTheBand” and its concert-companion piece “PUP Unravels Live in Front of Everyone.”
The former drew much acclaim and ended up being “longlisted” for Canada’s prestigious Polaris Music Prize in 2022. In the U.S., the album reached the top 25 on Billboard’s top rock, top independent and top alternative rock charts. Not too shabby for a band’s whose name is an acronym for “Pathetic Use of your Potential,” a line that vocalist-guitarist Stefan Babcock’s grandmother reportedly once used in questioning his choice of pursing life in a rock band. Even grandma would probably have to admit that Babcock and his bandmates — drummer Zack Mykula, guitarist Steve Sladkowski and bassist Nestor Chumak — have done pretty well in their chosen profession.
PUP is out on the road supporting their two albums with a coheadlining tour with the equally awesome Joyce Manor. The groups perform March 11 and 12 at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco. Showtime is 8:30 p.m. and tickets are $35-$49.50,
