The missing fisherman had left Westport with another man on board a 43’ fishing vessel named Evening. They left on Oct. 12 and were reported missing when they hadn’t returned as expected. The U.S. Coast Guard searched 14,000 square miles for Evening but then called off their search the day before the Planes found him.The Planes said the rescued man told them he had run out of the survival biscuits and emergency water the lifeboat had inside.
During those two hours, they told KOMO News they learned more about what led to the tragedy that brought them together.
