But the new design, created by the Canadian Heraldic Authority, has sparked concern that the crown has become politicized, National Post columnist John Ivison. Some critics have called it the “Trudeau Crown.” McCreery said he was concerned the redesign was undertaken with “no consultation or debate, developed in secret.”
