Arop finished atop the seventh and final heat with a time of one minutes 45.05 seconds. His time was the second best overall across the heats.Arop was the second Canadian man to ever medal at worlds in the event after Gary Reed won silver in 2007 in Osaka, Japan.In other results, Saskatoon's Michelle Harrison qualified for the semifinals in the women's 100 hurdles with a time of 12.88 seconds.
