The U.S. recently purchased Soviet-era aircraft for less than $20,000 each.
In April, the U.S. purchased a number of Soviet-era combat aircraft from Kazakhstan, according to a report from the Kyiv Post on Sunday. The Kyiv Post said Kazakhstan parted with 81 planes for less than $20,000 each. The deal reportedly saw the sale of multiple aircraft models, including twin-engine MiG-29 fighters, MiG-31 interceptors, MiG-27 ground-attack aircraft, and Su-24 tactical bombers.
Is it financially feasible?Any aircraft owned by a private individual would have to be demilitarized, and you'd have to be a qualified pilot to operate it, of course. These warplanes might seem like an attractive, novel purchase, but there is a catch.Whilst the initial cost of purchasing a Soviet-era aircraft might seem low, other costs associated with owning such a machine can be sky-high.
