Sources say the change reflects Gov. Mike DeWine's unease with group's direction during a warmup election earlier this summer.
Gov. Mike DeWine, seen here in an August file photo, insisted that Protect Women Ohio add a political operative he'd worked with before as a condition of him getting involved with the campaign to defeat the November ballot issue that would add abortion rights to the state constitution. COLUMBUS, Ohio – The campaign group working to defeat the Ohio abortion-rights ballot issue in November has a new local leader, reflecting Gov.
“Protect Women Ohio is thrilled to have the expertise of Ryan Erwin and his team at RedRock Strategies in the fight against Issue 1 this November to protect parental rights and keep painful, late-term abortion on demand out of Ohio’s Constitution,” Amy Natoce, a Protect Women Ohio spokesperson, said in a statement.
DeWine has expressed his concerns directly to Protect Women Ohio’s leadership, sources said, conversations that eventually led to Erwin’s hiring.
