A 64-year-old man stabbed to death at the Soledad prison was convicted of murdering a Vallejo woman in 1976.
SOLEDAD — A 64-year-old man was stabbed to death Wednesday on a recreation yard at Salinas Valley State Prison, authorities said.
According to media reports at the time, Tunstall, 18 at the time, and a 17-year-old boy, were arrested in July 1976 on suspicion of murdering Annie Lou Barnes, 61, and shooting a 44-year-old woman in the neck, shoulder, and hip. Tunstall’s co-defendant, David Day, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison.
