California is awarding $50 million in grants to an array of projects to support salmon populations and habitat restorations in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and statewide.The grants from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife will support 15 projects as part of the $200 million it is distributing for restoration, including $100 million for protecting salmon against drought and climate change, the department said in a press statement.
'Timing is everything and we have an opportunity to address the unrelenting threat of extreme climate and weather patterns through supporting these projects,' said CDFW Director Chuck Bonham in a statement. 'This support and collaboration from the restoration community is ensuring the long-term sustainability of our natural resources for generations to come.
