The 19-year-old ski jumper from Calgary went wire-to-wire through two pressure-packed rounds in Planica, Slovenia on Wednesday and scored 264.4 points to win the women’s large hill World Championship gold medal. Defending champ Maren Lundby of Norway was a whopping 10.4 points back in second, Germany’s Katharina Althaus third. “Since I started in this sport I’ve always dreamt of becoming a world champion. I remember watching Lindsey Van win the first ever women’s ski jumping world championship event in Norway and at that time hoped I would be there one day. I think it hasn’t really sunk in yet, but this means so much to me and for the Canadian ski jumping community.”
