Evelyn Roy died after a two\u002Dyear battle with cancer in 2020. Since then, her mother has organized annual birthday fundraisers in her honour.

Evelyn Faye Roy lost her battle against neuroblastoma, a form of adrenal gland cancer, in February 2020. She would have turned 15 this month.She said when kids at the hospital make a donation, they get to put their name on a wall with a painting of a tree. While most kids reached on their tippy toes or jumped for the top, Evelyn always put her name near the bottom. She told her mom that’s the strongest part of the tree, and the roots help build others up.
“I think be blown away. She would just be so impressed and so excited,” said Heather. “We call this event Ev’s Epic Birthday Bash because we really think she would think this whole project, this day, this event, our ability to find joy in her loss, was epic.”
