Calgary Expo's Parade of Wonders marches on after four-year absence yyc
“I wish we could do one in every city,” said Moyes. “It’s an amazing way to bring fandom to the city. We’re obviously away from the Stampede grounds, so seeing these costume characters come through the artery of the city is really, really cool. It all culminates in Olympic Park, which turns into a huge celebration where we are white-hatting celebrities and doing all sorts of stuff. You can see the energy lift.
Hamilton was dressed as Starfire from Teen Titans, an elaborate get-up that required her to dye her hair red and paint her skin orange, which took more than three hours to prep Friday morning. She was was making her Expo debut and helping her best friend, Calgary’s Sabrina Dasilva, celebrate her birthday on Friday. Dasilva, an Expo and parade regular, was dressed as Raven. Dasilva’s children, aged 10 and 14, were elsewhere on the parade route dressed as video-game characters Link and Zelda.
Jordan Monkman spent roughly six months putting together his costume so he could transform into Claude von Riegan Fans line up on Stephen Avenue to watch the costumed procession as the Parade of Wonders kicks off Calgary Expo.
