ContributedTRURO, N.S. — With so many rebates and financial benefit programs available for people throughout the county, folks at thewant to ensure all who are eligible have the technical ability to apply.
"We know in rural Nova Scotia, people either don't have access to technology, access to the internet or have the skills to use those things if they did have it. We opened up the door and we had 22 people come through just for Fiona resources."Teed and other CALA staff noticed that many seniors in the community were not accessing the benefits that are available to them.
"There seems to be a need here that we're addressing with these workshops to help people navigate this big, complicated digital system of online applications, and benefits and forms. "Knowing which websites, looking at trust marks - how do I know this is the real province of Nova Scotia website, or how do I know this is actually something being offered by the government and I'm not submitting my information to a fake or spoof website?"
