Burnaby's own Patrick Levis brought home two gold — and members of the local club partnered up to claim bronze in a team event.

Members of the Burnaby Canoe and Kayak Club won two gold and three bronze at the national event in Darmouth, N.S., which took place between Aug. 29 and Sept. 2.

Kayaker Patrick Levis racked up four individual medals, crossing the finish line in first for two para men's division competitions. He finished with a time of 1:08.904 in the VAA 200-metre category, a full two seconds ahead of the runner-up, and 2:35.226 in the VAA 500-metre, which was also two clicks ahead of second place.Meanwhile, two Burnaby Canoe Kayak Club paddlers joined forces with two others from False Creek Racing Canoe Club to capture bronze in the U18 K4 500-metre race.

Mykola Udovichenko and Andrew Thom put all their strength in the water for a time of 1:31.734 for the final spot on the podium. The Burnaby Canoe and Kayak Club tells the NOW that athletes is gearing up for the provincial long distance championships, set for Oct. 21 and 22.
