Burnaby city council gave approval in principle to $7.4 million in funding for an expanded school gym at Brentwood Park Elementary School and a school-based child-care facility at a new school planned for 4900 Dawson St.
A proposed new Brentwood elementary school hasn't broken ground yet, but funding earmarked by Burnaby city council recently suggests the project will include a child-care facility.
The school district and city announced in February that the 4900 Dawson St. property, currently a city-owned park, had been chosen as the site of a new school.
