Federal authorities say Noah Calderon espoused white supremacist ideology online and idolized gunmen behind mass shootings.
Authorities said Calderon posted images of himself online in tactical vests with AR-15 style rifles and handguns.“We are especially grateful to the tipster who alerted law enforcement to Mr. Calderon’s concerning social media posts,” Simonton said. “We encourage anyone who witnesses worrisome behavior to report it to law enforcement.
In March, the FBI received a tip Calderon detonated a homemade bomb in a residential neighborhood, the release said. Calls to 911 about a loud noise and smoke corroborated this report, the attorney’s office said. Following the tip, federal agents reviewed Calderon’s Google account and found searches for the Columbine shooters and the 2015 Charleston church gunman, who killed nine Black people in Buffalo in a racist attack. He allegedly searched for how to make a pipe bomb, a propane bomb and whether propane bombs were used at the Columbine shooting, the release said.
Calderon’s search history also revealed inquires for the names of several local public schools, the attorney’s office said. Authorities said online activity showed Calderon purchased two pounds of potassium percholorate, one pound of aluminum powder and a striped fuse.Federal authorities executed a search warrant April 17 at Calderon’s home, the release said.
