Harristown Enterprises, the owner of Strawberry Square in Harrisburg and the developer of a number apartment buildings in downtown Harrisburg has announced that it will redevelop the building that once housed The Plum. Harristown plans to renovate the 3,300-square-foot Victorian era structure at 213 Locust St. into three two-bedroom apartment units. The 122-year-old building was home to the women’s fashion boutique, The Plum for 50 years.
Harristown and its partner, Don Mowery, expect to submit a building permit to begin work on the project in February and are hoping to complete the project this fall. “We are delighted to preserve this amazing building which was built in 1900 and renovate it into three unique and extremely desirable apartments in the heart of downtown,” Brad Jones, president and CEO of Harristown said in a news release. “Because this was the home of The Plum for more than half a century, purchasing and renovating this building has special meaning.”“We are happy to see that the building will be preserved,” said Mishkin.
