Coldplay have only collaborated with a handful of the biggest musical acts on the planet, and that now includes BTS.

, and it’s quickly becoming evident that the two acts have a proper hit on their hands. The tune arrives two weeks before the U.K.-based pop/rock band’s new album, which sees them going steadfast in a top 40 direction. The joint effort is a rare occurrence for Coldplay, known primarily for their solo efforts, and the collaboration makes BTS one of a relatively small number of superstars to assist the group in securing a smash.

Throughout their decades-long career, Coldplay have only teamed up with a very small number of musicians when releasing singles, and they almost always score a chart win when they do so. The success of “My Universe” proves that BTS is an act that can be counted on to score a hit, and that Coldplay’s plan to partner with superstars from time to time is still paying off.

Coldplay didn’t release a proper single with another major musician until almost 10 years into their career, at which point they had already become perhaps the biggest alternative act in the world. The band teamed up with Jay-Z for the single version of “Lost!,” which broke into the top 40 on the American Hot 100.

Several years would go by before they recruited another well-known name for a feature, and that release went even better for the band. “Princess of China” credited Rihanna on the tune, and her presence, as well as the catchy and inventive nature of the cut, propelled it to the top 10 in the U.K. and the top 20 in the U.S., making it Coldplay’s biggest collaborative success so far.
