Federal investigators revealed Saturday that the brother of the man arrested for killing a Georgia nursing student has been presenting a fake green card.
Jose Antonio Ibarra, the suspected killer, and Diego Ibarra, the brother, were confirmed to have come to the U.S. from Venezuela, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Georgia said in a news release. The brothers are suspected of having crossed the border into the U.S. illegally.
Diego Ibarra, 29, was arrested the same day for allegedly presenting a forged U.S. permanent resident card to investigators, the local U.S. Attorney's office said. Authorities approached the elder Ibarra while he was out in Athens, where both brothers reportedly live, because he matched the description for the suspect in Riley's case.
