Brook Park City Council is expected to approve a plan to build a new playground at Carpenter Park, with most of the cost covered by grants.
Brook Park City Council is poised to approve legislation for a new playground at Carpenter Park, with the majority of the project’s $141,219 cost expected to be offset by grants.BROOK PARK, Ohio – Brook Park City Council is expected to approve legislation that would allow for the construction of a new playground at Carpenter Park, one of the city’s most deteriorated parks.
During the Oct. 8 caucus meeting, Orcutt announced that most of the project’s $141,219 cost could be covered by grants. He highlighted the time-sensitive nature of the initiative, noting that final approval is needed at the next council meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 15. In addition to the $55,000 grant from Game Time, Orcutt said the city has applied for a $50,000 grant at the county level, which could reduce the city’s portion of the project cost to under $50,000.
Council members expressed their support for the playground renovation, with Councilman Tom Troyer voicing his enthusiasm during the caucus meeting.“It’s kind of a no-brainer because we’re already working on a grant from the county, which I think we have a good chance of getting, and then we got an extra grant by getting this done right away,” Troyer said. “So it’s going to save us a lot of money for something that’s very needed.
