Britney Spears' dad says star 'wouldn't be alive' without conservatorship as he breaks silence
It's been just over a year after US pop singer Britney Spears over a year since the singer was released from her controversial 13-year 'conservatorship' in which her father, Jamie, was handed power over both her personal and financial life.
The father-of-three also claimed that the conservatorship was aimed at protecting Britney's children, Preston, 17, and 16-year-old Jayden, whom she shares with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. Speaking of his grandsons, he adds: 'I miss my two boys really, really bad. I do. You know, we were very, very close. They were around that age where you could start having a good time with them. But they were developing a mind of their own.
Britney's sons were sent to the full custody of her backing dancer ex-husband Kevin after she was placed under a temporary conservatorship back in 2007, after she was deemed mentally unstable for shaving off her hair and being admitted to hospital for substance abuse. And when it comes to his daughter's finances, Jamie refutes the idea that Britney was worth £50 million at the time of the start of her conservatorship, claiming she was "broke" and had "no money whatsoever."
