Brighton, N.Y. — Law enforcement agencies across the state participated in the Stop-DWI campaign to combat impaired driving, Sunday.Brighton Police officers

set up a checkpoint on one of the town's high-traffic roads. One lieutenant with the department spoke about their efforts. "The big game is a nationwide craze and a national event that tends to involve some partaking of alcoholic beverages," said Lt. Tim Karch. "To help keep our roadways safe for everyone using them, Brighton PD and other law enforcement agencies in the area will be conducting enforcement," Karch added: there are plenty of apps that can connect people with a safe ride home if they are too inebriated to drive.

"The last thing you want to do is face charges and end up in jail for the next several years because you made a couple of wrong choices," said Rivera. "It’s all about responsibility. The choices you make may cost you your life or somebody else’s life if you are not responsible in that aspect of drinking, driving, or under the influence of drugs."Stay Connected
