Brighton captain Lewis Dunk has jumped to the defence of Moises Caicedo amid all the uncertainty surrounding his future at the club

Moises Caicedo is a ‘great lad’ despite all the drama surrounding his future at Brighton, insists teammate Lewis Dunk.Caicedo is still a Brighton player, howeverArsenal looked to sign the Ecuador international in the final days of the January window but Brighton rejected all approaches for their player.with the club after making the statement and played no part in their FA Cup win over Liverpool on January 30.

With the window closed Caicedo returned to the fold for their Premier League win at home to Bournemouth on Saturday.from the Brighton faithful when he came on in the 57th minute at the Amex Stadium. Dunk suggested the Brighton fans were right to welcome Caicedo back, and suggested there are no hard feelings among the Seagulls players, but admitted there’s still uncertainty over his teammate’s future.

The Seagulls captain told talkSPORT: “Obviously it was a difficult situation for him and these things happen in football. It’s not the first and won’t be the last time players at a football club having this going on over their head.

“I think it’s a massive statement from the club, standing their ground. Obviously we’ve sold players over the years to bigger clubs but I think it’s a great statement to show that we want to keep him and I think rightly so.”
