Bridgerton season 2 may show a more manipulative side of Lady Whistledown when it returns in March. 'Hurt people hurt people. People don't treat her nicely, so she's able to manufacture and move things around at her will.'
Bridgerton season 2 star Nicola Coughlan has revealed that the next batch of episodes will show a more manipulative side to Lady Whistledown. Having only recently been dethroned from its top spot as the most-watched original series of all time, Bridgerton is set to return to screens next month with its highly anticipated second season.
Alongside the Bridgertons, viewers were also introduced to a number of other families in their circle, most memorably the Featheringtons. The youngest Featherington daughter, Penelope, played by Coughlan, shared a sweet friendship with Eloise Bridgerton, with many enjoying the pairs' numerous endeavors across the series.
Hurt people hurt people. People don't treat her nicely, so she's able to manufacture and move things around at her will. Coughlan also revealed that she believes Penelope's idea of becoming Lady Whistledown was, in part, to catch the attention of her best friend, Eloise, stating"Penelope thinks Eloise is the funniest, smartest, best person in the world — and a lot of Whistledown is to impress her.
Given that a number of Lady Whistledown's actions within Bridgerton season 1 were far from tame, it will be interesting to see what Penelope has up her sleeve now that Anthony Bridgerton will be the one in the spotlight. Knowing that many of her actions are motivated by how people treat her certainly begs the question of just how both her familial and romantic relationships could progress within season 2, and just how this will impact the series' events as a whole.
