And it appears the so-called Windsor Agreement could yet win the approval of the DUP in Northern Ireland and some hardcore Brexiters who could try to derail any plan over concerns about the province keeping EU rules and partly staying under the thumb of the European Court of Justice.
Ms von der Leyen posted a photo of her arriving on the Eurostar in London and said: "I'm glad to be in the UK today to meet with Prime Minister @RishiSunak. And Northern Ireland secretary Steve Baker – the self styled "Brexit hard-man" – backed the deal despite having reportedly been put on resignation watch.
