The Come By Chance, N.L., refinery. - Keith GosseAs Braya Renewable Fuels gets ready to flip the switch to start processing biofuels at the Come By Chance refinery in Newfoundland this year, it has its eyes on another goal., announced it had issued a letter of support to ABO Wind for the joint development of green hydrogen production.
Tapping into the wind to make hydrogen “would be a very nice enhancement, if we can make it work,” he said.“It starts with preliminary work by ABO Wind,” he said.First there’s the application to the province tothrough the call for proposals process announced last year by the Newfoundland government. “Then we will, with ABO, continue to analyze the wind profile and other engineering aspects of what needs to happen next,” said Almaraz.
Almaraz couldn’t say where the wind farm, if it’s approved, might be located, but he did say, “Ultimately we want it as close to the refinery as possible.” The company builds wind and solar farms, as well as battery storage and hydrogen projects, operating in 16 countries. Meanwhile, Braya continues work to transform the Come By Chance operation from a crude oil to a biofuel refinery.
