Sweet and Spicy: what's the buzz on honey infusions? | SaltWireST. PETER'S, N.S. — The federal government is investing $1 million dollars to install erosion control projects along the Bras d’Or Lake shoreline in Potlotek First Nation and Eskasoni First Nation.

Cape Breton-Canso MP Mike Kelloway and Sydney-Victoria MP Jamie Battiste made the announcement Tuesday morning in St. Peters along with Chief Wilbert Marshall of Potlotek First Nation.Kelloway said the investment will shield the two communities and make them more climate-resistant. The Natural Infrastructure Fund is an initiative by the Canadian government which supports projects that enhance climate resilience, protect biodiversity, and mitigate carbon emissions with a natural approach.

Erosion protection funding will also contribute to the protection of Chapel Island, a small island in the Bras d’Or Lake near Potlotek, which holds cultural and historical significance to the Mi’kmaq.
