Stroud MP Siobhan Baillie said the 'nastiness' faced by politicians will make people 'think twice' about standing for office.
Police have launched an inquiry after a box of faeces was left outside the office of a Tory MP in Gloucestershire.
In a tweet, she condemned the"nastiness" MPs face, warning that as a result"many decent people are thinking twice about standing for public office". "We are taking this incident of harassment seriously and ask that anyone with information contacts Gloucestershire Constabulary through the website, quoting incident 212 of 2 November."
