Drunk Blackpool grandad made 'gun fingers' gesture at neighbours then took a knife to front door
A drunk grandad threatened neighbours and made gun finger gestures before grabbing a knife and stabbing at a front door in Fleetwood.
On the morning of October 14, 2021, he was captured on CCTV ranting and raving in Macbeth Road, Fleetwood, following an argument with his girlfriend.. When the woman came down the street, Smith squared up to her, Preston Crown Court heard. Mr McCormick calmed Smith down, but when he released him from his grip the situation began to escalate again,the court heard.Smith began shouting he “knew people”, made gun gestures with his fingers and said he was going to get a knife. Mr McCormick told Smith’s girlfriend and another woman to go inside the house, and followed them in, locking the door. But Smith returned with a knife and began kicking the door and stabbing at it with the blade.
A pre-sentence report described Smith, of Westmorland Avenue, Blackpool, as a “volatile person” with a number of previous convictions for affray, criminal damage, threatening behaviour, and carrying knives.
