On Wednesday, Los Angeles City Councilman Mike Bonin announced that he will not run for re-election to the Westside District 11 seat.

Bonin said that he needs time “to focus on health and wellness” after struggling with depression for years. He said that it was a “difficult, deeply personal decision,” but is confident he made the right decision.“ the right choice for the right reasons,” Bonin said. The council member survived a recall effort just a week before making this announcement.
