Thousands of Nigerian’s struggle to survive after the Nigerian army closed the offices of prominent humanitarian organisations, accusing them of ‘aiding terrorists'

But that lifeline was cut when the Nigerian army shuttered the offices of humanitarian organisation Action Against Hunger in the region some six weeks ago. During a visit to Nigeria, the UN's humanitarian chief Mark Lowcock said on Friday he had received assurances the suspension would be lifted in the "next few days".A spokesman for the Nigerian army refused to comment on the UN statement.'Need more support' Ten years of fighting has killed an estimated 35,000 people, spilt into neighbouring countries and forced millions from their homes.
Those displaced by the fighting live by their thousands in sprawling camps studded around the region.Humanitarian organisations provide a crucial safety net.
