astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams reached the International Space Station on Thursday afternoon after troubleshooting thruster issues and monitoring helium leaks that arose during the first leg of their flight in Boeing ’s Starliner spacecraft.
Boeing Starliner launches, giving said the spacecraft was stable. Starliner’s crew were expected to participate in human research studies, too, and can assist with space station maintenance. For the latter, Starliner reached the station with a last-minute addition to its manifest: a replacement pump for the station’s Urine Processor Assembly. This processor, a crucial component of the system that turns the crew’s pee into drinkable water, failed last month.
