Boeing says Middle Eastern carrier Qatar Airways has committed to buy up to 50 Boeing 737 Max jets and as many as 50 of the company's cargo planes. It's a coup for the U.S. aircraft maker in its competition with European rival Airbus.
Stan Deal, President and CEO Boeing Commercial Airplanes, left, and Qatar Airways' CEO Akbar al-Baker, right, hold up signed agreements for the purchase of thirty-four 777-8 Freighter planes with purchase rights for an additional sixteen, in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on the White House Campus in Washington, Monday, Jan. 31, 2022.
The companies did not disclose financial terms. The list price of the planes would total about $27 billion, but airlines routinely get deep discounts.
