Pressure has been building on Potter’s position after a torrid run of results that had seen certain sections of supporters calling for his head. Before Tuesday night, they had won just two games in 2023 – the second of which only came on Saturday against Leeds.Some were suggesting Potter would need to progress in the Champions League or face the chop.
Thankfully for him, a 2-0 victory on the night at Stamford Bridge saw them progress with Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz getting the crucial goals.post-match as they looked for signs of a strained relationship, but what was seen was anything but., the head coach and Chelsea owner could be seen hugging in the tunnel area before Potter went off to conduct a post-match media interview.
