Columbus police releasing body camera video on Thursday, showing the tense moments officers confront a man accused of stabbing three people on the east side of Columbus .
What you are about to see is hard to watch, as you'll see everything leading up to the moment it happens. You'll hear a gunshot, but it is not entirely clear if it hit the suspect. We also have paused the video before that moment.From the first angle, within seconds of officers getting on scene, you hear them shouting at the man to "drop the knife." Then you hear officers deploy tasers and a shot.
From another body camera angle, you can see the officers who deployed a taser, put it on the ground and then put the suspect in handcuffs. That officer also began first aid until medics could arrive on the scene.. The suspect has since been identified as Benjamin Kelch. Investigators say that Kelch stabbed three people inside a home before this altercation with police. The last time that ABC 6 News spoke with CPD, they told us that BCI has taken over the investigation to figure out if the officer actually shot the man.
