It's a two bedroom, one bath shotgun house in the Downtown Dauphin Street Historic District close to the heart of Mobile entertainment district. The last time it was on the market was 14 years ago for $59,000 and now it’s vacant and decaying. In fact, they planned to tear down the little house at 54 North Cedar Street until Historic Mobile , a preservation group, thought it would be better to move it to their land development project on North Dearborn Street focused on affordable housing.
The Architect Review Board would have something to say about that, as they did several months ago when the owners of two historic homes on Conti Street tried to do just that... move them from their original historic locations to areas that held no such distinction. City Councilman Carroll, who is working with the Historic Mobile group, took to the podium to suggest two points that make this plan different from the Conti Street controversy.
