All of the potential and prowess of the Toronto offence converged on Sunday in Cincinnati, where the Blue Jays hammered the host Reds 10\u002D3.
With the likes of George Springer , Danny Jansen and Kevin Kiermaier back in the lineup, the Jays were as healthy as they’ve been in what seemed like months.
One potential dark cloud emerged when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was replaced at first base to begin the home half of the fourth inning. In his at-bat in the top of the frame, Guerrero lost control of his bat when he swung awkwardly. He has this nasty habit of being off-balanced and it clearly hurt him this time.Article content
In his fourth start of the season, Ryu earned his second win by going five complete innings against the Reds. The other culprit was Guerrero, who continues to confuse and frustrate when moments of lackadaisical play surface.Article content The official scorer awarded Bichette a triple, even though centre-fielder TJ Friedl misplayed the ball near the wall. His jump was fine, but Friedl allowed the ball to go off his glove. Why a triple was scored is anyone’s guess.Article content
