Former President Bill Clinton was released from a California hospital on SundayMr. Clinton, 75, exited UC Irvine Medical Center with his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, at his side. He shook hands with doctors and staff as he left and waved and gave a thumbs-up to reporters outside the hospital.
“His fever and white blood cell count are normalized and he will return home to New York to finish his course of antibiotics,” Dr. Alpesh N. Amin, who oversaw the former president’s treatment, said in a statement released by Clinton spokesman Angel Ureña on Sunday. Mr. Clinton was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday and received intravenous antibiotics and fluids. President Biden spoke by phone with Mr. Clinton on Friday and wished him a speedy recovery, the White House said.
Mr. Clinton, a Democrat, served as president from 1993 to 2001. In 2004, he underwent a quadruple-bypass operation for four blocked arteries. In 2010, after experiencing chest pain, he had a procedure to place two stents in one of his coronary arteries.
