The Biden administration on Tuesday said it was reversing a Trump-era policy and joining the majority of countries around the world in committing to limit the use of anti-personnel landmines.
The new policy prohibits the use of the landmines outside of the Korean Peninsula and bans the development, production and acquisition of the weapons.National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson said in a statement the change in policy reflects President Joe Biden's belief that anti-personnel landmines"have disproportionate impact on civilians, including children, long after fighting has stopped.
