Former Vice President Joe Biden named two Southern segregationist senators as examples of people with whom he had major disagreements but still 'got things done' in the Senate

Criticism mounted Wednesday after former Vice President Joe Biden named two Southern segregationist senators as examples of people with whom he had major disagreements but still "got things done" in the Senate.

"We didn’t agree on much of anything," Biden continued. "But today, you look at the other side, and you’re the enemy … we don’t talk to each other anymore.” Biden's remarks drew criticism that gained steam Wednesday. Connie Schultz, a columnist whose husband, Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio, considered running for president in 2020,on Twitter, “There is no punchline here, no emoji or funny meme to soften the harm of your words. “This is why I continue to believe Biden is the dream general election opponent for @realDonaldTrump," Miller said.
