The mural was painted back in 1914 and labeled Sconset 1914, which is an area in Nantucket, Massachusetts
A Berks County artist worked on a unique canvas, a mural in a Lancaster County home's bathroom. . Artist Deric Hettinger began working on the piece along with help from fellow artist Schon Wanner. There was a lot of preparation work, including sanding, priming and patching. He also had to redraw missing areas from the painting. After three weeks of work and six gallons of paint, he was finally finished.
'It's really great that you don't have to give up, that you can restore it, you know? Just like they've done the Sistine Chapel, there are things like smoke damage, water damage, things get broken and damaged. But anything broken or damaged can be repaired,' Hettinger said. Some of the people in the mural are believed to be family members of the original artist.
