Layla Michelson, a St. Mary’s-Berkeley softball player, is the Bay Area News Group girls high school athlete of the week for May 9-15 after she received 12,757 votes by the 5 p.m. deadline Wednesday.
Mills softball player Adyson Kim finished second and Carondelet swimmer Stephanie Iannaccone took third.Michelson, a senior outfielder/middle infielder bound for Pace University in New York, homered, tripled and drove in seven runs in two wins during the week.
