OAKLAND — A Bay Area man was sentenced last week to two years and six months in federal prison for taking part in the burglary of a Hayward gun store during the wave of protests and riots following the police murder of George Floyd, court records show.
Craft pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal from a federally licensed firearms dealer, court records show. He was charged alongside three other suspects, but police say a total of nine people participated in the burglary. Craft’s attorney, assistant federal public defender Joyce Leavitt, described Craft’s “difficult life” that started when he was born with drugs in his system. She asked for a two-year prison term.
